Wireframe #68

It’s disappointing, but a sign of the times as Wireframe can now only be purchased online for home delivery – no longer will you be able to pop to your local newsagent and pick it up. It is still one of the best magazines around, and urge everyone to check it out – they even provide free PDFs of every issue for you to download and enjoy.

There is a pixel art theme this month, starting with a big preview of Mina the Hollower a new Zelda-vania indie title, plus articles on the evolution of PixelArt, the history of sprites, and Konami’s Ganbare Goemon series. This issue also features the History of Cheat Codes, a developer profile for Roll7, and retro goodness including a look back at Lode Runner.

Previews include Vikings on Trampolines, the next title from the Owlboy developer, Stray Blade, Spells & Secrets, Mojito the Cat, and Dreamed Away. The toolbox includes articles on game design, an interview with a game lighting artist, and code to make your own pixel editor. Rounding out this issue are reviews of A Plague Tale Requiem, Shovel Knight Dig, the Excavation of Hob’s Barrow, You Suck at Parking, Session Skate Sim, Vampire Survivors, and Serial Cleaners.

November is here, and that can only mean one thing – the Christmas issue of Edge arrives, complete with a Street Fighter 6 calendar.
