Project Leonardo accessible controller for PS5

Although we tend to focus on all things retro or retro-flavoured here on Fusion R Gamer, we like to keep a close eye on current-gen developments too.

Over on their PlayStation blog, Sony have unveiled Project Leonardo. No, this isn’t yet another TMNT post! Project Leonardo is a highly customisable accessible controller for PS5 that can be adapted to suit the needs of disabled gamers.

You probably don’t know this, but I’m a disabled gamer myself, and while on PS4 I’ve learned how to use a Dual Shock 4 with one hand, Project Leonardo looks like it would offer a more comfortable one-handed gaming experience. To read more about my experiences as a disabled gamer, check out my article in Fusion issue 35!

Microsoft have previously released their own accessible controller for Xbox consoles. It’s great to see major players in gaming taking accessibility in gaming seriously!

I've been playing video games since the 1980s, from the 8-bit era onwards. I have had to play one-handed following a stroke in 2014, and I blog about playing games with one hand.
