Anyone who has memories of that dog and first zombie from Resident Evil will understand exactly what Tormented Souls is aiming for. The story focuses on Caroline who is uncovering the mysteries of a haunted, disused hospital. You will explore the dark corridors, fight off the undead and solve basic puzzles during this classic horror title. Even the controls feel like they belong in the 90s due to the fixed camera and awkward movement as it flicks from scene to scene.
The biggest let down though, is with the graphic performance during cutscenes, they are choppy at best and it spoils the otherwise great spooky atmosphere. However, the lighting and sound effects are excellent and help keep the scare levels high throughout. Tormented Souls does start to repeat the same tropes over and over, especially in the puzzle department, but horror fans will get a good weekend play out of this one.
