The latest edition of Wireframe magazine has hit our letterboxes for one final time. We could see it coming – the page count was down for the past four issues, the paper stock was thinner, and it could only be purchased online for home delivery. So what’s in this final issue?
Well the big cover game, American Arcadia, is previewed as being the most paranoid game of 2023. There are also early looks at the climb-em-up Surmount, the Exhausted Man puzzler, plus a massive 2023 indie game preview. There’s also an article detailing the challenge of making mobile ports of hit indie games, and the toolbox includes how to write a tower defence game in python.
Features in this issue include a 20th-anniversary celebration of the Shantae series, a developer profile of Brian Bright, the former Activision game designer, discovering the thriving Mega Drive indie game dev scene, and a look back at the 80s classic Frankie goes to Hollywood.
Reviews in this final issue are Somerville, The Devil in Me, Goat Simulator 3, The Knight Witch, Midnight Suns, and the Callisto Protocol.
RIP Wireframe, 2018-2023.
