It was to be expected given the popularity of the video game series, but nobody could expect the amount of support a board game version of Heroes of Might and Magic III would get from fans. The Kickstarter campaign launched yesterday afternoon and was funded withing minutes and now sits just shy of £1 million as we type this article.
The project is due to be with customers by December 2023 and this gives plenty of time for the creators, Archon Studio, to finish all the extras and expansion boards. The game consists of a 1-4 player game that has solo campaigns and single battles as well as sprawling maps to explore as you uncover the fog of war.
The video game series is the perfect candidate to be developed into a board game due to its turn-based and map exploring mechanics. The game will include miniatures, similar to the Warhammer, and has bonus campaigns to add to the core game. There has already been an abundance of Kickstarter exclusive stretch goals unveiled and the money just keep rolling in to support Heroes III board game on its journey.
