Cyber Neon Bundle, developed by NukGames, is a collection of two titles from publisher QUByte Interactive and it’s out now on Switch and PlayStation. Both games are different with Cyberhunt being a basic Asteroids clone and Razortron 2000 being an interesting take on the 80s top-down racer genre.

Cyberhunt is a pretty simple affair where you rotate your spaceship to aim and shoot at asteroids and different enemies. You move by pressing the thrust button that will propel you forward in the direction you’re facing. You rack up points and move to the next level once you destroy all the enemies and asteroids.

Beyond this, there are different weapons to pick up and a few other items that help you clear the screen or speed up your rate of fire. The gameplay is quite solid even if it’s basic but the graphics, sounds and controls let this arcade blaster down.

In Razortron 2000 you whizz along procedurally generated roads that are filled with traffic that you must avoid. Slam the accelerator too hard and you will not have time to react to the other vehicles, go to slow and you will quickly run out of fuel. Luckily there are F-Zero-style fuel strips to replenish your gauge.

This risk versus reward mechanic is fun and you start to learn to pump the gas for a moment before slowing down as cars start appearing. If you touch another vehicle you instantly spin off and crash which leads to a game over.

There are a few power-ups along the way such as invincibility and a camera zoom-out mode that help you for a short while. As you progress you unlock different cars that change the colours on the screen and the music as well as have different attributes to suit your driving style.

Overall, Cyber Neon Bundle is fun for a while but there isn’t enough depth or variety in either game. Hardcore arcade fans will certainly enjoy the tough challenge and improving their skills to get a high score but for most players, this one is better bought in a sale.
