Lately, there has been some buzz about a new port of Capcom’s arcade legend Final Fight coming to Mega Drive. When it was announced earlier in the year, the head developer on the project, Marco Xavier, explained it was being built from the ground up.

The project is moving along nicely and the latest video shows how far it has come. It’s not just a direct port of the arcade version either as several new moves have been added to the original characters as well as new characters from Capcom’s other games being playable.

It’s not just the street fighters themselves that are getting a revamp either. New modes such as boss rush, survival, and time attack are being added and the entire soundtrack is getting remixed into a new style more fitting for the Mega Drive. There is also a three-player option to indulge.

Due to licensing, we will never see this officially released and it will only see the light of day as homebrew download. But that doesn’t seem to be holding the developers back and Mega Final Fight is shaping up to be a fantastic brawler and a great fan homage to the arcade classic.
