The Retro Collective charity calendar has become a bit of a tradition in the retro community and this year is no different. When asked about the calendar and what it means to them, the team told us “This year’s calendar features vintage boxed games of all formats, coupled with personal memories from the owner. Every year I invite viewers to send in photos to help create a calendar from which 100% of the profits go to a charity local to The Cave including tackling food poverty, supporting a children’s hospice, and stocking up a toy library. It’s raised just shy of £20,000 for good causes over four years.”
When asked what charity they were supporting this year the team explained “This year we’re supporting Cirencester Opportunity Group, a local preschool for children of all abilities. This is an especially poignant year as I’ve been volunteering at COG through the year to gain valuable experience with the children as part of my own adoption journey, and I’d like to give something back to the kids as thanks.”
The team also muses on the wider benefits of the campaign. “Every year the support the calendar receives is an astounding reflection of the positive and caring community of retro fans that exist around the world. I’ve always felt that having an audience carries with it a responsibility to try and make people’s lives a little bit better, and the calendar is one of the ways I try to do that.”
