A sequel to Super Bomberman R has been announced. The Switch version was announced during Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase on Tuesday 28th June.
The latest installment in the popular Bomberman series, which dates back to 1983, boasts a new “castle mode” which offers multiplayer for teams of up to 15 players versus a single defending player.
The new game also offers players the chance to create their own stages, and to share their creations with other players. The announcement of this game perhaps explains why the servers for the free-to-play Super Bomberman R Online were recently turned off.
In addition to the Switch version, Konami will also be releasing the game on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and Steam.
The franchise has certainly come a long way since Eric & the Floaters on the Speccy and other 8-bit machines! Super Bomberman R 2 will explode onto the aforementioned formats in 2023.
