Hamster Corp are getting 2024’s Arcade Archives releases for PS4 and Nintendo Switch off to a cracking start with the 1987 Taito platformer Rainbow Islands, which, of course, is the sequel to the equally brilliant Bubble Bobble, this time starring Bub and Bob in their human form, and introducing a vertical playing field as opposed to their previous game’s single-screen playing area.
You may recall that the Amiga conversion was named as the greatest Amiga game of all time by Amiga Power magazine back in the day, and from next month you’ll be able to enjoy the arcade original of Rainbow Islands from the comfort of your own home on PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch. The Arcade Archives release of Rainbow Islands is set for release on 24th January 2024. (Yes, we really are only days away from the impossibly futuristic-sounding year of 2024 AD!
