Soundfall’s a genre mash-up between a rhythm game and a twin-stick shooter. You play as Melody who has been sucked into a strange world called Symphonia. You use your weapons in time with the song beat and once you feel the groove the mechanics start to feel natural. However, enemies are not aligned to the same tune as you. This occasionally means its impossible to defend yourself and keep your shot going.

Soundfall controls well, the button layout is great. But the presentation is bland and the art design is garish. The music is pop-heavy, if you don’t appreciate teen pop then it’s hard to get into, but it’s great to see the artists get the limelight. There’s a lot to like about Soundfall but its target audience, twin-stick shooter fans and rhythm addicts may feel the gimmick is at odds with each other.
