Phelios Arcade Archives graphic

Hamster’s “Arcade Archives” is a line of emulated arcade titles released digitally for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The latest Arcade Archives title, Phelios, is out now.

The series gives players a chance to enjoy the original arcade versions of games at home (legally!)

The Arcade archives line includes both well-known classics and lesser-known obscurities.

We recently reviewed the previous release in the line, which was the all-time classic platformer The Newzealand Story.

The latest release in the line came out on 1st February 2023 and is perhaps one of the less well-known titles in the series (at least to me): Phelios. The game is a vertically-scrolling shmup originally released in arcades by Namco in 1989. This release uses the Japanese ROM of the game, but has menus in English.

Are you a fan of the Arcade Archives series? If so, will you be adding Phelios to your collection? Tell us in the comments…

I've been playing video games since the 1980s, from the 8-bit era onwards. I have had to play one-handed following a stroke in 2014, and I blog about playing games with one hand.
