Defend from Candyland is a tower defence game from developer MI Pixel Studios. It was released on Steam in February of this year and is also the solo developers first game. Your mission is to save the forest as the trees are under attack from the evil candy, you need to Defend from Candyland!

As with any tower defence game, the objective is to stop waves of enemies reaching your base, in this instance a magical oracle tree. If your tree takes enough hits it will be destroyed and the round lost causing you to restart the level.

Luckily for you, towers can be purchased and placed on empty squares on the map. The placement of towers is also tactical as making rows of towers creates pathways for the waves to follow. Make them too direct toward the tree and it will be a quick game over. The more winding the path, the more chances your towers have to attack the enemy candy waves.

You receive more spending points for taking on the candy which enables you to build more towers. You control the action using a mouse and have options to start the next wave, speed up the waves, upgrade towers or sell them to recoup more spend points. The gameplay is well worked out and this has all the hallmarks of a quality tower defence title.

You can upgrade towers up to certain levels and finding the correct balance between the right towers and upgrades is a fun challenge. The graphics and sound are fine but not outstanding and there is a great use of colours to determine the different candies, towers and map objects.

Defend from Candyland ticks all the correct tower defence boxes. The interface is clear and simple enough to quickly find what you need. The gameplay is logical and 120 levels should keep any strategy fan happy. There are also different difficulty options and an endless mode that both add some longevity.
