According to business news source Bloomberg, the much-anticipated remake of the 2003 RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been put on hiatus indefinitely. The report claims that the project is in “serious trouble” due to personnel changes at the game’s developer, Aspyr. The game’s art director and design director have reportedly been fired abruptly, with the project now on pause while the studio looks for new projects. According to Bloomberg, Aspyr’s staff have been told to not speak publicly about the project’s status.
The Knights of the Old Republic remake project was first announced in September 2021 and a demo of the game was finalised just last month, on 30th June.
Bloomberg report that Aspyr were aiming for a 2022 release, but the game’s developers now feel that 2025 would be more realistic.
