Hamster’s latest addition to their Aracade Archives line of emulated arcade games is Bandai Namco’s sequel to 1987’s Dragon Spirit, Dragon Saber: After Story of Dragon Spirit. The critically acclaimed verically-scrolling shoot ‘em up was originally released in Japanese arcades in 1990, to great acclaim.
In December 1990, The Game Machine magazine named Dragon Saber as the most popular arcade game in Japan.
Previous ports of Dragon Saber were released in Japan only, for PC Engine and Sony PlayStation. The PC Engine port was also released on Nintendo’s Virtual Console service in Japan only.
Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 owners can purchase and play this piece of arcade shoot ‘em history today (14th July 2022).
