Xbox has announced that its Games with Gold subscription service is being revamped with a new name and a lot more titles. The changes come into effect on the 14th of September 2023 and instead of the poultry two games a month the new service will include 25 games at launch with a promise of new games added two to three times a year. It will also allow access to Xbox online gaming, much like the old subscription.
The new monthly subscription will cost about £10 with an option to buy an annual subscritption for about £60. The difference between the old Games with Gold and the new Core subscription is that you will not be able to keep the games. Before, any active subscription could download the games to keep regardless of an active subscritption. This new service offers access to a larger library, albeit smaller than the regular Game Pass, but you must have an active subscription to keep access.
This will be good news for those that want to pay less for access to games but will be disappointing to those who enjoyed the additional games to keep. This new service does seem to offer some excellent newer titles though. The likes of Fallout 4, Forza Horizon 4 and Doom Eternal are just some of the games that will be availiable on Game Pass Core.
