At Capcom’s 2022 Showcase on 13th June, it was revealed that 1991’s Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (the original title in the Street Fighter II franchise) has been made available for free in the original Capcom Arcade Stadium until 11:59pm on Thursday 21st July, prior to the release of Capcom Arcade Stadium 2nd Edition on Friday 22nd July. The new collection offers 23 arcade classics from Capcom’s 39-year history. As per the original Capcom Arcade Stadium, titles for the second edition can be purchased either as a bundle or individually. The new Capcom Arcade Stadium 2nd Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Steam.
The free release of Street Fighter II on the original Capcom Arcade Stadium is in celebration of Capcom Arcade Stadium’s first anniversary and the 39th anniversary of Capcom. Gamers with long memories may remember that the original SNES conversion of the game cost an eye-watering £65 on release. How times have changed, with the arcade version of the game now being offered for free!
