One of my favourite games of the last 12 months is Kena: Bridge of Spirits – a title that’s one part cutesy platformer, one part Pixar movie – with a pretty dark storyline – and most surprisingly, one part tough-as-nails Soulslike fighter. Expect to see a review drop here soon.
Developer Ember Lab has now announced a new Anniversary Update for owners of the PS4, PS5, and Epic Game Store versions – to coincide with the new Steam release.
The free update is a big one – there are new cosmetics, such as Kena’s outfits, and new hats for the Rot. There’s also an enhanced photo mode to capture the lush environments. But the big addition is the New Game+ mode.
New Game+ allows you to restart using all of your previous Rot and abilities from the outset. They have introduced Charmstones that modify combat, added Spirit Guide Challenge Trials, new abilities for Kena, updated combat scenarios, and even added brand new enemies for you to take down. This is pretty darn impressive, and the indie developer deserves a lot of kudos for this.
The new adventure awaits – Kena: Bridge of Spirits Anniversary Update will be released on September 27.
