As you might have gathered from our Street Fighter 6 coverage, we love our long-running brawler franchises here at Fusion R Gamer, and from next week, we’ll have a new instalment in a long-running series to enjoy with the launch of Motrtal Kombat 1, which is, obviously, the 12th mainline title in the gory fighting game series. However, at first, our online fights will be restricted to dismembering players who are playing on the same format as we are, as it’s been confirmed on the official Mortal Kombat X account that Mortal Kombat 1 cross play will not be available from launch, but it will be added later.
Of course, they refer to it as “Kross Play”, presumably because they buy their keyboards from the same place that Kerrang magazine bought theirs in the 1990s.
Street Fighter 6 did offer cross play from launch, so this news may come as a blow to those hoping to engage in online Kombat from the game’s launch on 19th September 2023.
