Return to Monkey Island was announced to joyous rapture a few months ago, but it didn’t take long before a minority of fans started to bemoan the art style. Ron and his team have a vision however and continued to share development updates with the community in their blog. That is, until now.
The backlash is continuing, abuse and harassment are rife in the comments and Ron has had enough with the toxicity. The comments have now been disabled, and no more development updates will be forthcoming. There’s nothing like the internet to kill good things.
In other news, a brand new website has been unveiled, and fans were quick to notice the text “exciting conclusion of the Monkey Island series”. It seems this may also be the final game in the series. Let’s hope it goes out with a bang!
