The Switch is already home to some of the best versions of Tetris, such as Tetris 99, Tetris Effect: Connected, Tetris Grand Master, and the classic Game Boy version, but here comes Papertris for Switch: an interesting new “spin” on the formula, a tribute to the iconic game from one of our favourite indie publishers, Flynn’s Arcade, who previously brought us the amazing Donut Dodo and the bewitching Legend of Gwen.
This time, Flynn’s Arcade have looked to Tetris for, er, “inspiration”, albeit reimagined in the style of the doodles I might’ve made in the back of my maths book while daydreaming about videogames at school circa 1990, but not only does Papertris have a cool visual style, it also promises some interesting gameplay mechanics, such as the unique “power cubes”.
Papertris was developed by solo developer Paper Games, and it doodles its way onto the eshop on 30th March 2023, priced at just £4.99, however, there’s a 20% discount during the first week of release.
