In an interesting turn of events, after showcasing a somewhat boring gameplay video and the subsequent fallout demanding a development delay, the boss of Team Sonic has hit out by declaring that Sonic Fans simply do not understand Sonic Frontiers.

The videos demonstrated an open-world hub stage, which was empty, void of atmosphere, and exhibited little in the way of speedy exhilarating gameplay. Fans were quick to demand that Team Sonic delay the development until next year, to give it time to sort things out.

However, Team Sonic disagrees and states that focus groups and internal playtesting are giving positive feedback and that fans simply don’t understand the new gameplay – and won’t until they play it for themselves. This is somewhat surprising given that watching someone play a game, generally makes you want to play it, and that isn’t the case for this. Whilst we’re hopeful the end product turns out well, I’m not convinced. Perhaps they should release some videos showcasing some of the linear levels…
