The second Sonic movie is now the biggest video game adaptation film released in cinemas. Since its release in early April it has grossed over $330 million at box offices around the world. The film has received great reviews from critics and cinema goers alike and introduced Sonic to a whole new generation of fans.
Sega have been on a high recently and with the impending release of Sonic Origins on Sonic’s 31st birthday they seem to be back in the big leagues. Time will tell if the Mario movie, due early next year, will break Sonic’s record of being the biggest game movie.
