David Ward, the co-founder of Ocean software has sadly passed away. The news was broken by Andy Payne on Twitter, founder of Just Flight, followed by a deluge of support by people across the games industry.
Ocean Software (formally Ocean Games) was the gaming powerhouse of the 80s and 90s and developed numerous licensed gaming hits including Batman the Movie, Robocop, and The Untouchables. The Manchester-based developer released games on the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, and many more. Rest in Peace.
I remember very well spending an afternoon with David and Jon Woods in capturing the history of the company. David would say his version, then go to the loo. Jon would then “correct” David’s memory of events.
