This barely counts as news item, but I hope you’ll indulge me, as it’s a little bit of retro gaming-themed history that might be of interest to retrogaming indie music fans of a certain age!
Miki Berenyi is best known as the frontwoman of 90s indie band Lush, who were originally active between 1987-1996, before making a brief comeback from 2015-16. Lush were best known for their chart hits Ladykillers and Single Girl.
You might be thinking “This is all very interesting (or not), but what does it have to do with retrogaming?” Well, Miki Berenyi recently took to Twitter to post a photo of herself from back in the day, playing on a Nintendo GameBoy. And if you want further proof of Berenyi’s retrogaming credentials, she was interviewed in issue 17 of Amiga Power, in 1992, in which she said, “My Amiga is a games machine, pure and simple.” In the interview, Berenyi also professed her love for Monkey Island. We wonder if she’s looking forward to Return to Monkey Island?
