Frank Herbert’s Dune is undergoing something of a renaissance of late, with last year’s well-received film and its soon-to-be-released sequel, and now, on a smaller scale, perhaps, there’s AGA Amiga Dune!
Yes, also seemingly undergoing a renaissance are AGA Amiga ports of 16-bit Amiga games.
We recently reported on a fan-made AGA Amiga port of Robocop, and now comes news of a fan-made port of another beloved licensed Amiga title, with an AGA Amiga Dune port in production.
The existence of the AGA Amiga Dune was posted on the English Amiga Board, which linked to a post on amigafrance.com in which the developers of the AGA Amiga remake state that their version of the game will be more than a simple port, bringing additions such as additional characters and more locations, plus turn-based battles in isometric 3D. Indeed, the developers describe their AGA Amiga Dune game as an”homage” to Cryo Interactive’s 1992 original, rather than a straight port.
Although a proposed release date for the game has not been mooted, all the new enhancements sound extra “spicy”!
