Yesterday we reported on the imminent announcement of just what the Evercade Alpha is actually going to be, speculating on whether or not Blaze Entertainment had oversaturated their own market. Well, it seems that they do know what they’re doing, as today they’ve announced that Evercade cartridge sales have hit the million mark.
In addition to this news, Blaze Entertainment have also announced the appointment of industry veteran and Eidos founder Dominic Wheatley as their Chairman.
In a previous role as Eidos CEO, Wheatley oversaw the launch of the uber-successful Tomb Raider series.
And with the Evercade Tomb Raider Collection 1 announced as the format’s fastest-selling cartridge to date, it seems somewhat fitting for Blaze Entertainment to appoint one of the people responsible for the series’ success first time around to a senior role in their company.
Speaking about his appointment to the role, Wheatley said: “When I was introduced to the Blaze team and found what they had created I was so impressed. The design and power of the hardware and the slate of games they had managed to licence already was awesome. I got down on my knees and began to pray. When they asked me to join them I was like ‘Hell yeah!”
