It’s fair to say that the horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s has grown into something of a phenomenon, with a big-screen adaptation recently released, though its 15 certificate in the UK has caused some consternation, due to it preventing a large chunk of the game’s predominantly young fanbase from seeing the film at the cinema.
However, thanks to Rosie Sapphire’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 64 port, N64-owning fans of the game of all ages now have a new way to play it!
Five Nights at Freddy’s 64 was first reported on by the Nintendo 64 site N64 Squid.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 64 is a complete rewrite of the original game using the Libdragon N64 library.
Sadly, though, running Five Nights at Freddy’s 64 isn’t just a matter of downloading the ROM and running it. To run the game, you’ll have to extract the assets from a copy of the original Five Nights at Freddy’s game and compile it yourself. But if you’re really keen for cutesy but macabre jump scares on Nintendo 64, then you can find written instructions and a tutorial video on getting Five Nights at Freddy’s 64 running on Rosie Sapphire’s GitHub page.
