As you may know, Celeste is a critically feted indie game notable for its portrayal of a female lead character battling anxiety and depression, which was released back in 2018 for a variety of formats. Now, in 2024, to celebrate the game’s 6th anniversary, Celeste’s developers, Maddy Makes Games, have created Celeste 64, a short Celeste platform game in the style of a 3D N64 platform game, as opposed to the original’s 2D adventuring.
The game, full title: Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain) is available now from itch.io as a free download for Windows and Linux. While it’s perhaps a shame that the game hasn’t also been made available as an N64 ROM, it’s always great to see a new N64-style platform game, especially a free one!
