Well, we told you that a surprise Nintendo Direct was incoming!
The latest Nintendo Direct presentation steamed at 10pm UK time last night (Wednesday 8th February 2023). If you missed it, you can watch it back here.
One of the biggest announcements for us retro gamers is that you can now play games from the Game Boy on Nintendo Switch Online, and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members also have access to a selection of Game Boy Advance games.
The Game Boy games available to play now are: Tetris, Super Mario Land 2 – 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, Gargoyle’s Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark – The New Nightmare, Metroid II – Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, and Kirby’s Dream Land.
Titles due to be added at a later date include: Kirby’s Tilt ‘N Tumble, Pokémon Trading Card Game, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.
The Game Boy Advance games available now are: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Titles promised for future release include:
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Metroid Fusion, Fire Emblem, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, and Golden Sun.
We’d love to see the original Super Mario Land come to the Game Boy library, and Sonic Advance, the Bit Generations games, and Ninja Cop come to the Game Boy Advance selection. Which games would you like to see added? Tell us in the comments…
