The Immortal John Hancock, best known for his popular retro gaming YouTube channel, is releasing a new Mega Drive game developed by Second Dimension. He told Fusion that he “wanted to offer a new puzzle game for the Sega Genesis. Block’em Sock’em offers a combination of some previous puzzle games into a new experience. It consists of 25 levels and involved strategy to advance each level.”
John explains how “Second Dimension was kind enough to offer to program the game along with completing the artwork for the case and manual. The company is amazing to work with. I had some minor involvement with the final shape of the game but all the credit goes Adam and his company.”
The collaboration is not a one off as John explains. “I go way back with Second Dimension and Adam and we have been friends for many years. I did a charity event and he offered one of his games as one that could modified and sold for the event. He is a very kind person and has helped many in the gaming community.”
John is a big collector himself and feels that “there are many out there that still enjoy old school 16 bit games. There are many collectors who also like to add new physical releases to the collection. Being that I enjoy both of these things very much, I feel that this is a fun puzzle game that also doubles as a collectible.”
The game isn’t widely available yet but John is taking it to gaming conventions in the States. “The game will be sold and available to play at booth #335 at PRGE, as well as being offered at TORGS. Feedback from the game will help with future releases planned possibly for other platforms.”
