Scott Bennie, the writer credited in many 90s PC games, has passed away due to complications with pneumonia. Scott was well known for his game writing, contributing to many Interplay titles such as Starfleet Academy and Lord of the Rings. He will be most fondly remembered for his work on the original Fallout games where he not only wrote the scripts for the characters but designed some of the maps. His career many years and former colleagues have posted loving eulogies to their friend.
Scott was also a keen table top gamer that influenced his video game work. Jesse Heinig, who worked with Scott, posted on Facebook about his D&D games with Scott. “Scott ran a D&D game that I played in back in the 2nd edition days of the hobby, while we both worked at Interplay. He was a quick-minded and adept DM who was one of the early adopters of the notion that you played by the rules to give an even playing field but your goal was to craft interesting challenges, out of which stories would arise as the players faced those challenges in their characters’ own idiosyncratic ways.”
