One of the things we love about modern consoles (in particular the Nintendo Switch) is the ability to experience retro classics in a new way, such as Tetris 99, Pac-Man 99, Super Mario Bros 35, and F-Zero 99, and soon Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will be joining that list.
On 18th July, Nintendo will be offering a new way to experience 13 NES games in the form of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. This new release will have an emphasis on speedruns, with the online World Championship Mode pitting you against players from across the globe, and the local multiplayer Party Mode pitting you against players next to you on the couch.
The featured NES games include Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Metroid.
Challenges include Seeing how quickly you can run through the first level of Super Mario Bros. and how fast you can eat an enemy in Kirby’s Adventure.
The game can be pre-ordered on the eshop now,prior to release on 18th July 2024, with a deluxe set including a physical copy of the game, a replica NES cartridge, and art cards that will be made available for pre-order by invitation only, for which you can register your interest now.
