There have been quite a few leaks and rumours about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console over the past 48 hours, so we thought we’d let you know some of the more interesting ones.
Firstly the screen will be larger, checking in at up to 8 inches with an upgraded 1080p resolution, it is also claimed to support a 4K image output when docked. Game cartridges for the Switch 2 will not fit the original, but Switch 1 games will be backwards compatible on the new console.
Interestingly, the new Joy-Cons are larger and will magnetically attach to the console instead of by the traditional slider rails. The Bluetooth chip will still support the old controllers, which gives hope that they will also be backwards compatible (perhaps by way of a magnetic adapter?) New Joy-Cons also feature a new button on the back and a new button below the existing Home button on the right Joy-Con.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be released in late 2024.
