I was a PC gamer in the 90s and never had a Dreamcast, so completely missed out on Jet Set Radio. However I did move back to consoles with the original Xbox, and by god, was I hooked on the sequel. The music, the platforming, the rhythm, it was something so different from anything I had played before, and I still play it today when I dig out the old X360. Just the soundtrack itself instantly takes me back 20 years.

So imagine the size of my grin when I found Team Reptile was developing a massive homage, with some added BMX bikes. Bomb Rush Cyberpunk is the spiritual sequel to JSRF that Sega never delivered – just check out the trailer.

But the best thing? The very best thing? Hideki Naganuma, the musical composer from JSRF is attached to this project.

Understand, understand,
Understand, understand,
Understand, understand the concept of love.

As it stands, the game is an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch, and unless they release it for a console I already own, BRC will prove a very expensive game for me to buy.

Bomb Rush Cyberpunk is due for release later this year.

    1. I don’t know how different JSR was to JSRF, but the latter just ate up my spare time (back when I had some). Certainly not my usual type of game either, but I chanced at the launch title and I was hooked. I prefer more story-based action games usually… rainbow six, splinter cell, uncharted or tomb raider, etc

As far as the other Xbox launch titles went, I didn’t go much on Halo…
