December’s edition of EDGE magazine contains an A2 poster celebrating the magazine’s 30th Anniversary. One side features the incredible pixel art cover of the latest issue, and the reverse features every cover in the history of the publication.
Inside the bumper 148-page edition is a massive thirty-four-page feature on the 100 greatest games of Edge’s Lifetime – with some very questionable entries. There’s also big hype for Eve: Vanguard, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Persona 5: Tactica, and Hyenas.
Elsewhere in this issue is a look at things to come, where industry leaders look to the future at how gaming may evolve in the next 10, or even 30 years. There’s also a studio profile of Llamasoft and the making of Halo: Combat Evolved.
Rounding out the issue is a look back at Street Fighter II Turbo, and a large smattering of game reviews, including Starfield, Cocoon, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Lies of P, The Crew: Motorfest, Mortal Kombat 1, Chants of Sennaar, Gunbrella, Sea of Stars, Mediterranea Inferno, Eternights, and Finity.
Typically, my sub ran out with the issue before this! Have ordered it as a single issue.
I’ve just had a letter saying my subs are increasing for a second year in a row, so I will probably cancel once it hits issue 400 as well.
