Previously we brought you news of the Anniversary Update to Kena: Bridge of Spirits – today, owners of the PS4, PS5, and Epic Game Store versions can download this substantial update for free. In addition, a new Steam release has been made available, that includes a 25% discount for the first seven days.
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Kena is one part cutesy platforming adventure, and one part Soulslike fighter. The free update includes new cosmetics, such as Kena’s outfits, and new hats for the Rot. There’s also an enhanced photo mode to capture the lush environments. But the big addition is the New Game+ mode.
New Game+ allows you to restart using all of your previous Rot and abilities from the outset. They have introduced Charmstones that modify combat, added Spirit Guide Challenge Trials (Obstacle Courses, Wave Defenses, and Boss Reflects), new abilities for Kena, updated combat scenarios, and even added brand new enemies for you to take down.
It is also one of my favourite games of the last 12 months, and I recommend it to everyone.
I like this game, and got if for the PS5 as it was an early game that took advantage of the graphics. The controls for me though are a little too clunky.
Fair critique, and sometimes you have to press many buttons etc at once. I found it just too difficult and wussed down to easy mode after the second boss fight – I think there needed to be an intermediate difficulty.
