Previously released by indie developer DTG Games for NES and PC via itch.io, as well as for Evercade via the Game of the Month programme and the Indie Heroes 2 cartridge, Nessy the *** Robot is hoping to reach a wider audience this December (but hopefully not one that includes Nintendo’s ever-vigilant lawyers!) The endearing retro platform game is coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch on Thursday 7th December 2023.
We’ve already played Nessy the NES Robot on Evercade, and we think it’s a charming old-school platformer that’s well worth a look if you’re a fan of such games (which we very much are!) Perhaps Nintendo missed a trick by never releasing a similar NES game starring their Robot Operated Buddy, ROB! But indie developer DTG Games has now filled that (admittedly niche) gap in the market!
But which is the best “Nessy”? Is it the Loch Ness Monster, or the NES Robot? And which is the best NES Robot, Nessy or ROB? We suggest that DTG Games develop a beat ‘em up pitting them all against each other to resolve these questions!
