Readers of Fusion Magazine may recall our report on last years One Life Left (OLL) gaming convention. The event was a huge success so the organizers are bringing it back again and this time it’s even bigger. Jon Gage, the events founder, explains that “after such warm feedback from last year’s convention, deciding to do it all again was an easy choice!”
The event, held at the Norfolk Showground between 15th and 16th April, will see indie game showcases, tournaments, talks with industry specialists as well as a host of exhibits and traders. Jon feels that “OLL has always been about bringing a community of players together, and I think that’s what we do well with our larger events, in that we try to steer away from being too corporate or just full of brand advertising. We focus on making the whole weekend simply about enjoying video games and everything about them.”
This year is gearing up to be a fantastic event and the OLL team are bringing new experiences to attendees. “For 2023 we’re aiming to simply deliver more of what people loved about OLL ’22. One new activity I’m really looking forward to is our Retro Games Championships stage show, where we’re inviting our content creator guests to compete in challenges recorded by Dominik Diamond, plus our evening celebrations and after-party.”
The success of OLL is one part of a vibrant Norwich gaming scene and Jon feels OLL ’23 is helping to showcase the area as one of the UK’s gaming hubs. “OLL ’23 is certainly going to be the biggest gaming event yet seen in our region. That’s both frightening and massively exciting for me, but everything’s going according to plan so far! It’s hugely rewarding to see all the plans coming together as we enter the countdown to April.”
