As announced at yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Treasure’s beloved vertical scrolling shmup Radiant Silvergun is available now for Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eshop. The game costs £15.29 and is absolutely essential for any shmup fan.
Radiant Silvergun was first released in Japan’s arcades in 1998. A well-received and now much sought-after (and rather pricey) Sega Saturn port followed a few months later. T|hen, In 2011, the game was released for Xbox 360.
A warning for the uninitiated: Radiant Silvergun is a bit trickier than your average shmup and is described as a “strategic shoot ‘em up”. If you want an even bigger challenge, the Switch version has a mode that applies the rules of Treasure’s later shooter Ikaruga! There are also online leaderboards, so you can see how good (or otherwise) you are in comparison to the rest of the world.
