This week’s Awesome Games Done Quick has begun, their first major speedrunning event of 2023 with proceeds going to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. You can view the online-only event schedule here.
Immediately before the event, Mike Uyama, the founder of Games Done Quick, officially announced that he is departing the company. Since he started back in 2010 from his mum’s basement in Utah, the organisation has grown and grown and has raised an impressive $41 million for charity. GDQ’s Director of Operations, Matt Merkle, will be stepping up to fill the void.
