Hamster Corp just keep digging deeper and deeper into those Arcade Archives, as ‘Mad Shark’, the latest Arcade Archives title hits the surfaces of the PS Store and the Nintendo Switch eshop.
Despite its name, Mad Shark isn’t a game in which you lay an angry Jaws-like sea-dweller intent on gobbling up beachgoers, as fun as that would be.
‘Mad Shark’ is actually a decent-looking vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up that originally hit arcades back in 1993. Mad Shark was published by the lesser-known Japanese arcade developer Allumer. It’s good to see Hamster Corp delving that bit deeper into the Arcade Archives, as while it’s always a joy to revisit well-loved classics from the likes of Taito and Namco, it’s just as much fun to discover lesser-played titles, such as this lost classic from the Arcade Archives of Allumer.
Long may Hamster Corp and their Arcade Archives continue to preserve the arcade history of our hobby, making titles of yesteryear playable once more for a whole new generation.
