The clever folks from DreamcastForever, have released their latest Dreamcast English translation in the form of Nakoruru: The Gift She Gave Me. The game, a previously Japanese-language exclusive visual novel, has been released as a Dreamcast file that anyone can play for free. You will need to follow the instructions from the GitHub entry and can use an emulator or burn a disc for use in the Dreamcast hardware.
Derek Pascarella, who leads the team, told Fusion that when he “started this project in July of 2021, I had no idea what I was truly in for, and thank God. Had I known the breadth and scope of the work from the onset, I may have shied away. The challenges I and my team faced were numerous, but so very worth overcoming. To finally push the v1.0 release feels incredible, and I’ve been amazed at the flood of positive feedback from the fans.”
When discussing his passion for retro gaming, Derek explains that “the passion we retro gamers feel for our old games and old hardware is what keeps me working on these projects month after month. More specifically, the Dreamcast itself made such an incredible impact on me when it was released in North America, and has remained a huge part of my life ever since. To give back to the community that has given so much to me is a pleasure and a privilege.”
