A lost Mega Drive game, Water Margin: The Tale of Cloud and Wind, has made its way to Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. It was released back in the 90s as an exclusive in Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese markets and featured stolen assets from other contemporary games such as Final Fantasy.

A few years ago it was picked up by Piko that stripped all the stolen assets and replaced them with original work. Piko released an indie Mega Drive cart in 2015 and since then it has made its way to Steam and Evercade. Now QUByte Interactive has been brought in to publish the game for modern consoles.

Water Margin is a straight up beat ’em-up that plays like a mash up of Golden Axe and Capcom’s Knight’s of the Round. It has all the tropes you would expect from a variety of playable characters and lots of levels to get through as well tough bosses and hordes of henchman. Review coming soon.
