Over on Twitter, Hamster Corporation confirmed the latest release in its Arcade Archives series for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 is Arcade Archives Splatter House.
While most beat ‘em ups of the time seemed to draw their visual style from the movie The Warriors, Namco’s 1988 beat ‘em up instead drew inspiration from Friday the 13th, with its murderous hockey mask-wearing protagonist disposing of his enemies in showers of gore.
Arcade Archives Splatter House is available now on the eshop and PlayStation store.
Splatterhouse is a fairly simplistic example of its genre, even by 1988 standards, but we remain quite fond of it here at Fusion Fusion R Gamer, and we’re looking forward to hacking and slashing our way through the Splatter House once more.
