Square Enix has a lot of new releases this year but one that is going under the radar is the upcoming remaster of Tactics Ogre. The original game released to critical acclaim in 2010 on the PSP and often described as being a masterpiece. This new versio of the game includes high-definition visuals and updated game mechanics to give it a fresh feel.
Full voice acting and a re-recording of the original soundtrack, by Hitoshi Sakimoto, has also been added. Square Enix has released a blog post that introduces many of the main characters in the story as well as information about the troop types you will command. They have also released a few more screenshots showing the gameplay and menus in the newly defined style.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn releases 11th November and will be available for PS4/5, Steam and Switch. You can also buy the re-recorded soundtrack seperatley on Steam and PS4/5. To round up the releases, a special physical edition being released for PS4/5 and Switch that is fast selling out.
Not sure if this is my kind of game, but those lush screenshots and your enthusiasm have intrigued me!
If you like long turn-based strategy games this is one of the finest examples. If you don’t then it’s a tough task to undertake.
